How to get your MyCampus e-mail on your third-party e-mail client

Windows Live Mail
If you’re like me, you hate having to sign into MyCampus to check your school e-mails. Luckily, I’ve figured out a way around this. If you use an alternative e-mail as your primary account, there is a way to set up your account to receive e-mails to your main account as well. This guide is set up for those using Windows Live Mail, however the instructions can be modified to work with whichever e-mail program you use.

To begin, first open Windows Live Mail. Once the program is open, choose Tools -> Accounts..

Next, click “Add…” to set up a new account. When asked what type of account you wish to set up, choose E-mail Account and click next.

As your e-mail address, enter your MyCampus e-mail which for Durham College is usually firstname.lastname@mycampus.durhamcollege.ca or for UOIT is usually firstname.lastname@mycampus.uoit.ca.

Your password should be your birthday in the format MMDDYY (the default password for MyCampus). Enter your display name as whatever you wish, and check the box to manually configure server settings for e-mail account.

On the next screen, set your information up as follows:

My incoming mail server is a “IMAP” server. (IMPORTANT! NOT POP3!)

Incoming server: itsosims01.mycampus.ca (Durham College); itsosims02.mycampus.ca (UOIT)

Port 143 (should be the default setting).

Leave the secure SSL box unchecked.

Log on using: “Clear text authentication”

Login ID: (student #)

Outgoing server information: Same as incoming server above.

Leave the next two boxes blank and click “Next.”

There you go! You will now receive all MyCampus e-mails in your account. Enjoy!
